Ryan Bell
President, Midland Credit Management

As President of Midland Credit Management, Inc., Mr. Bell oversees Encore’s U.S. debt purchasing line of business. Mr. Bell is responsible for the strategic direction and financial performance of this business subsidiary. Previously, as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Bell was responsible for all operational units of Midland Credit Management, Inc. As Senior Vice President of Operations, Mr. Bell led Encore’s internal legal, legal outsourcing, and bankruptcy operations. He previously led Encore’s decision science group which is responsible for asset valuation, predictive model development, and financial forecasting. Mr. Bell joined Encore in 2011 as a Vice President.

Before joining Encore, Mr. Bell spent 11 years in marketing and analysis at Capital One Financial Corp., primarily in the auto finance line of business. His experience at Capital One included marketing strategy, credit policy, new product development, business development, and operations strategy. Mr. Bell earned a Master of Business Administration (graduating Beta Gamma Sigma) from The Cox School Business at Southern Methodist University and a bachelor’s degree in management information systems (graduating cum laude) from Texas A&M University.


Darin Herring
Senior Vice President of Operations – Americas

Darin Herring is senior vice president of operations for Midland Credit Management (MCM).

In his current role, Mr. Herring oversees MCM’s call centers, legal collections, and bankruptcy operations in the U.S. and Costa Rica.

Previously, Mr. Herring served as vice president, legal collections and business transformation for Asset Acceptance Capital Corporation starting in 2008 and joined MCM in 2013 through Encore’s acquisition of Asset Acceptance. Before joining Asset Acceptance, Mr. Herring worked at American Express for 20 years, where he held a variety of leadership roles in finance, global reengineering and corporate services.

Mr. Herring holds MBAs from both Columbia University and University of California, Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Arizona State University.


Jaison Thomas
Managing Director, India

Jaison Thomas is Midland Credit Management’s Managing Director, India.

In his current role, Mr. Thomas leads MCM India and is responsible for global service delivery out of India. A firm believer of inclusion, he’s built an organization-wide culture that focuses on business, people and the community.

In his decade of experience at MCM, Mr. Thomas has successfully led a large-scale, diversified operation and has brought in a sharper focus on cost to collect and holistic development of talent within the company. Under his leadership, MCM India has grown and contributed significantly to the success of the organization. Mr. Thomas has been pivotal in developing strategy focused on business growth and service lines across the call centers, internal legal, and other Encore international businesses including Cabot Credit Management and Baycorp. Mr. Thomas spent two years at Baycorp as an advisor lending sharper focus to core operations.

Mr. Thomas’ customer-centric approach has ensured that over the years, his teams have learned to focus on customer delight not just as a risk mitigation strategy, but as a way of doing business to create maximum impact. Mr. Thomas has created a culture where decision making is a direct result of strong analytics, process power and people possibilities.

Previously, Mr. Thomas worked for a diverse set of organizations including Aegis BPO, GE Capital International Services, IBM Daksh, Global Vantedge and United Airlines, with most of his experience revolving around collections.

Mr. Thomas is a commerce graduate from the University of Delhi, India.


Kaushik Kundu
Senior Vice President of Strategy and Analytics, and Chief Analytics Officer

Kaushik Kundu is senior vice president of strategy and analytics for Midland Credit Management (MCM).

In his current role, Mr. Kundu oversees strategy, analytics, and decision science functions for U.S. operations. In addition, he oversees digital strategies, consumer segmentation and treatment strategies, external agencies and law firm operations. Mr. Kundu is responsible for setting MCM’s operations strategy and shaping the technology and business processes needed to implement the strategies.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Kundu joined MCM in 2009, leading call center operations, strategy and analytics functions.

Before joining MCM, Mr. Kundu spent eight years in marketing and analysis at Capital One Financial Corporation, primarily in its credit card business. At Capital One, Mr. Kundu gained experience in credit policy, valuation modeling, customer management, online analytics and a balance build program.

Mr. Kundu holds a MBA from Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore, India) and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Jadavpur University (Kolkata, India). Mr. Kundu is a CFA charter holder from CFA Institute.


Mike Merle
Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer

Mike Merle is senior vice president and chief administrative officer for Midland Credit Management (MCM).

In his current role, Mr. Merle is responsible for the human resources, facilities, and accounting functions for MCM. Prior to this role, Mr. Merle served as managing vice president of human resources, leading recruiting, talent management, development, benefits administration, and human resources support across MCM. Mr. Merle also previously served as vice president of strategy and performance for MCM, where he led analytics and performance management teams focused on delivering upon the legal collections budget. Mr. Merle joined MCM in 2014.

Prior to joining MCM, Mr. Merle worked for Tetra Tech, Inc, first as CFO and controller of a firm which was acquired by Tetra Tech, and then at the parent company leading mergers and acquisitions activity in the engineering and consulting sector. Prior to Tetra Tech, Mr. Merle worked for Capital One Financial Corporation leading a team of operations analysts and risk managers within the U.S. card business. Mr. Merle started his career as an associate in the management consulting industry at A.T. Kearney, Inc.

Mr. Merle holds an MBA (Palmer Scholar) from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and operations research (graduating summa cum laude) from Princeton University.


Sheryl Wright
Senior Vice President of Corporate and Government Affairs

Sheryl Wright is senior vice president of corporate and government affairs for Midland Credit Management (MCM).

In her current role, Ms. Wright leads the company’s government and public affairs efforts. Specifically, she manages federal and state legislative and regulatory matters, corporate communications, community outreach, corporate social responsibility, and Encore’s Political Action Committee (PAC). Additionally, she engages with key stakeholders to ensure that the needs of our consumers are met. Ms. Wright joined the company in August 2012 as senior vice president of external affairs.

Previously, Ms. Wright served as senior vice president, external affairs of Bridgepoint Education for 3 1/2 years. Prior to Bridgepoint, Ms. Wright had a 25-year career with Sprint Nextel, serving as vice president of government affairs in her latest role. Ms. Wright serves on numerous public policy and community boards, including San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce-Public Policy Committee, and the Public Affairs Council, Washington DC.

Ms. Wright holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Southwestern College Kansas, graduating cum laude and a MBA from Kansas State University.


Monique Dumais-Chrisope
Chief Information Officer

Monique Dumais-Chrisope joined Encore Capital Group in 2019 and serves as Chief Information Officer for Encore Capital Group and Midland Credit Management. In this role, Ms. Dumais-Chrisope is responsible for enabling the business to achieve its goals by delivering strategic technology solutions through a robust infrastructure, secure framework, stable applications and business intelligence.

Ms. Dumais-Chrisope comes to Encore from Bank of America, where she gained 16 years of experience in the financial services industry serving in senior and executive roles. Most recently at Bank of America, Ms. Dumais-Chrisope served as Senior Vice President, Technology Executive. In this role, Ms. Dumais-Chrisope was responsible for enterprise document, content and record services, and led a diverse, global team of 500 IT professionals across sites in the U.S. and India. Prior to this, Ms. Dumais-Chrisope served in leadership roles responsible for business process operations and loss mitigation technology for the bank. Ms. Dumais-Chrisope also served in an executive capacity with Balboa Insurance Group, which was acquired by Bank of America in 2008.

Ms. Dumais graduated from Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada


Andrew Asch
Senior Vice President, General Counsel

Andrew Asch is senior vice president, general counsel for Midland Credit Management (MCM).

In his current role, Mr. Asch manages legal affairs for MCM, including corporate litigation, legal compliance, business licensing, legal outsourcing, vendor oversight, bankruptcy legal, and internal legal collections groups.

Prior to joining MCM, Mr. Asch assisted clients with complex litigation and other matters while practicing with two international law firms. He then spent five years building a litigation capacity within a large Los Angeles-based privately held company.

Mr. Asch holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a law degree in 1998 from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law. He is a member of the Bar of the State of California and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.


Sarah Cosgrave
Managing Vice President of Business Development

Sarah Cosgrave is managing vice president of business development for Midland Credit Management (MCM). In her current role, Ms. Cosgrave oversees the acquisition of consumer debt portfolios in the United States and is responsible for the company’s relationships with external banking partners. Under her leadership, the business development team has achieved a number of sequential record years of capital deployment in the U.S. In addition to purchasing, Ms. Cosgrave manages an analytics team and MCM’s issuer certification function that facilitates bank requests for information and onsite audits.

In 2019, Ms. Cosgrave served on the Risk Management Association’s (RMA) inaugural diversity and inclusion task force. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining MCM in 2006, Ms. Cosgrave spent five years with Capital One in various operations and business development roles.

Ms. Cosgrave holds an MBA in finance from San Diego State University, and both a bachelor’s degree in politics and a bachelor’s degree in legal studies from the University of California Santa Cruz.
